What we believe
Rooted in the Word
Everything we teach at The Foot of the Cross comes back to the Word of God. Here’s what we believe.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, our final authority for faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is coming again.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4
Salvation
We believe salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ, not by works.
Ephesians 2:8–9
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, empowers us to live for God, and gives gifts to build up the church.
Acts 1:8
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, just as the believers did on the Day of Pentecost. This promise is for every believer today.
Acts 2:4, Acts 2:38–39
Healing and the Laying On of Hands
We believe Jesus still heals the sick today. We lay hands on the sick and pray in faith, trusting the Lord to raise them up.
Mark 16:17–18, James 5:14–15
The Renewed Mind
We believe God’s Word transforms the way we think, for “as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Romans 12:2, Proverbs 23:7
The Church
We believe the church is the family of God, called to worship, grow in the Word, and serve our community.
Acts 2:42
Baptism and Communion
We practice water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as Jesus commanded.
Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:19
His Return
We believe Jesus Christ will return, and we live watchful and ready.
Matthew 24:42
