Greetings, beloved community!

I hope this message finds you well and open to receiving the word of God. Today, I want to share with you a topic that has been laid on my heart — "Humility." It's a virtue that goes beyond just being humble; it's about surrendering ourselves to the will of God and understanding the depth of His grace.

Understanding the Stains in Our Lives

We often find ourselves facing situations where the stain of our actions needs to be addressed. Just as a stain on clothing can't be ignored, we must recognize and confront the stains in our lives. In these moments, we have a choice — to blame external circumstances or take responsibility for our actions.

Proverbs 11:2 (NIV) reminds us, "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Humility is the key to addressing our stains, acknowledging our mistakes, and seeking God's forgiveness.

The Maintenance of Our Spiritual Vehicles

Consider your life as a vehicle. Without regular maintenance, it's bound to break down. In the same way, if we neglect our spiritual well-being, we risk breaking down under the weight of our sins. Just as we maintain our cars, we must also engage in spiritual maintenance — prayer, reflection, and seeking God's guidance.

James 4:6-7 (NIV) emphasizes the importance of humility in our spiritual maintenance: "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.' Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The Sandwich Analogy: God at the Center

Imagine your life as a sandwich, with God at the center. The bread represents our humility, and God is the filling that holds it all together. True humility stems from our complete and utter dependence on God. It's not about appearing humble to others but recognizing our reliance on the Almighty.

Three Aspects of True Humility

Let's explore three aspects that shape humility in our lives:

1. Obedience to God

Jesus, our ultimate example, demonstrated perfect humility by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). Through our obedience to God, we align ourselves with His will, and the devil has no choice but to flee from the presence of God within us.

2. Complete and Utter Dependence

Reflect on the story of Joshua and Caleb, who, despite facing challenges, relied on God's promises. Our true strength lies in acknowledging our complete dependence on Him. Just as the seed of a plant takes time to grow and bear fruit, our dependence on God yields a harvest in due time.

3. Our View of Ourselves

Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV) guides us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your interests but each of you to the interests of the others." True humility involves valuing others and putting their needs before our own.

Emulating Christ's Humility

In 1 Peter 2:21 (NIV), we find an example in Christ: "To this, you were called because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps." Jesus humbled himself for our sake, illustrating that humility is not a sign of weakness but of divine strength.

Awakening to God's Presence

As we navigate through 2024, let's embrace the awakening God has planned for us. It's a year where we seek a deeper connection with Him, allowing the seeds of humility to grow within us. God desires our obedience, dependence, and a view of ourselves aligned with His Word.

Conclusion: Humble and Strong

In conclusion, humility is not a sign of weakness but a source of strength found in our submission to God's will. Let's be like the seeds that grow into mighty trees, rooted in humility and bearing the fruits of God's grace. May we navigate this year with an awakened spirit, knowing that true strength is found in embracing humility.

Blessings to you all as you walk in the humility and grace of our Lord.

With love and humility,
