Every believer carries something God planted. A calling, a gift, a promise He spoke over your life. Sometimes that seed lies quiet for years. Then you hear the Word of God, and something on the inside starts to move.
What Happened When Mary Walked In
In Luke 1, Mary, carrying Jesus, went to visit her cousin Elisabeth, who was carrying John. Elisabeth didn't see anything yet. She only heard Mary's voice.
"And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost." (Luke 1:41)
John was already carrying his purpose: to prepare the way of the Lord. When he came near the presence of Jesus, that purpose leaped. The seed recognized the Seed.
The Word Is the Seed
Jesus said it plainly in the parable of the sower: "The seed is the word of God" (Luke 8:11). When the Word is spoken, it comes near the seed God already put in you, and it wakes it up. That is why the Word of God is at the center of everything we do at The Foot of the Cross.
As a Man Thinketh
"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7)
What you think in your heart shapes who you become. If your thoughts tell you the seed is dead, too late, or too small, you will live like it is. But Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. When your thinking lines up with what God says, the seed has room to grow.
Let It Leap
This week, try three things:
- Read one chapter of Scripture each day and write down one promise you find.
- When a negative thought comes, answer it out loud with what God says.
- Ask God to show you the seed He planted in you, and thank Him for it before you see it grow.
